Fall 2024
In a city like New Haven, characterized by its diversity of immigrants and first-generation Americans, alternative medicine offers a compelling counterpoint to mainstream healthcare’s limitations. Exploring the local alternative healthcare landscape reveals resilience in the face of inaccessibility and inspires us to imagine a more inclusive future for healthcare.
Our research seeks to:
- Demonstrate that the American healthcare system is ailing.
- Highlight the growing interest in alternative medicine as a means of addressing chronic conditions.
- Define alternative medicine and its benefits.
- Show that alternative healthcare systems already exist.
- Propose that integrating alternative and Western medicine can open new pathways for healthcare.
This investigation invites us to reimagine healthcare as a dynamic interplay of systems, embracing alternative practices to fill the gaps in accessibility and chronic care left by conventional methods.
